What are CBD’s?

We’ve created a beginner’s guide for cannabidiol therapeutics to address key questions of CBD users.

The cannabis plant consists of over 400 chemicals with more than 100 chemical compounds known as cannabinoids. Each of these cannabinoids interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system in a variety of ways. One of the main cannabinoids is cannabidiol, or CBD as it is more commonly known. CBD is used to treat a variety of ailments including pain and anxiety. Many enjoy using CBD to relax and unwind after a long and stressful day.

CBD’s vs. THC

What is the difference between CBD and THC?

Tetrahydrocannabinol, commonly referred to as THC, is the molecular component of marijuana responsible for the mind-altering effects experienced by cannabis users. Cannabidiol, or CBD, is derived from the Hemp plant. It is not psychoactive, and does not induce intoxicating effects.

CBD Legality

CBD is the perfect choice for those who want to experience the medical benefits of Hemp without any mind-altering effects. CBD is legal for sale in all 50 states, whereas THC is only legal in states with either a medical or recreational marijuana program.

What is the best way to take CBD’s?

The preferred method for administering CBD’s depends on the type of treatment the user is seeking.

Knowing and understanding the benefits of each delivery system is essential in determining the best product(s) for your needs.

What is the optimal dosage of CBD?

While many articles have been written about the benefits of CBD, guidelines for recommended dosage are still wanting. The FDA has not yet created a Recommended Daily Intake (RDI) for CBD. This means that CBD does not have a specific recommended dosage based on bodyweight or age. Therefore, a variety of factors need to be considered, such as the weight of the individual seeking treatment, the concentration of the CBD, the severity of the condition being treated, and the individual body chemistry of the user. A good rule of thumb is 1-6 mg. of CBD for every 10 lbs. of bodyweight.

What should one look for when choosing a CBD product?

Important factors to consider are the volume and concentration of the products. Volume is defined as the total amount in a product, while concentration is defined as the amount per serving. A proper balance of volume and concentration is essential to achieving the desired outcome(s) for treatment.
